— ABOUT FEATHER QUEST

We design journeys
for the kind of traveler we are.

— A LETTER FROM
The founders
NAIROBI, KENYA
The founders of Feather Quest Adventures

e began by taking people out to see birds. Small trips, a field list, the car stopped for a flash of colour in an acacia. Those same travelers kept asking us to add a few days of safari, the parks, the big animals, and saying yes to them, again and again, is how Feather Quest grew into the company you are reading about now.

We build every route the way we built those first ones: a guide we trust on the ground, a real place over a tidy thumbnail, room left in the day to stop when something is worth stopping for. The company is the sum of those yeses, and we have tried to keep each one honest.

We have grown, from Naivasha to the Mara to Amboseli, but the test for a new quest has not changed: would we book it ourselves? Would we send our own family? If not, we do not sell it.

— THE FIELD OBSESSION

We started with birds.

Before the routes and the Land Cruisers, we ran small birding trips: a handful of people, a field list kept by hand, the car stopped for a flash of colour in a roadside acacia. A Long-crested Eagle, coal-dark and ragged at the crown, watching the same valley we were.

The people we guided kept asking for more. A few days added on, the game parks, the big animals beyond the hedge-row warblers. We said yes, then yes again, and the days became routes that ran from Naivasha to the Mara.

That is how Feather Quest grew: the feather we began with, the quest the birds led us into. We have logged over 800 species and counting, and we still stop the car for the next one.

— THE FIELD MANUAL

Four things we actually mean.

01

Small groups, every time.

Six to twelve travelers per quest, full stop. Not a marketing line, a room-size constraint we won't move on.

02

Local guides, full ownership.

Every guide on every quest is from the place they're guiding in. No exceptions, no “trained-elsewhere” shortcuts.

03

Souvenirs, on request.

We take no commission from any shop, so nothing is a quiet sales detour. If you want to stop for souvenirs or gifts to carry home, just ask and we will gladly make the time.

04

Real costs, itemized.

You'll always see what you're paying for: accommodation, guides, transport, kitty, our fee. No surprise extras at the end.

— HOW A QUEST IS MADE

Nothing reaches you untested.

01

We go first.

Months before a route is ever sold, someone from the team walks it end to end. If we would not get on the plane ourselves, it goes no further.

02

We hire local, or not at all.

Every guide on every quest is from the place they are guiding in. No exceptions, and no trained-elsewhere shortcuts.

03

We run it quietly first.

A new route travels with a small group of real people before the page goes live. The itinerary you read has already been lived.

04

We send our own.

The final test never changes. Would we put our own siblings on this trip? If the answer is anything but yes, we go back to the drawing board.

The field team.
