Overview
This is the classic Kenyan Rift Valley safari, refined into a well-paced five-day journey that combines three of the country's most iconic destinations. You'll experience the open-plains drama of the Masai Mara, the flamingo-trimmed Rift Valley scenery of Lake Nakuru, and the freshwater calm of Lake Naivasha — each one with its own distinct character, wildlife, and pace. The result is a richly varied itinerary that gives you genuine depth in every place rather than rushed glimpses.
Travel is in a custom 4×4 land cruiser with a guaranteed window seat and pop-up roof. Accommodations are mid-range tented camps and lodges with full-board pension. Throughout the trip you are accompanied by one experienced KPSGA-accredited driver-guide — the consistency means your guide gets to know you and your interests, and tailors the daily game drives accordingly.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
- Day 1: Depart Nairobi after breakfast. Scenic drive via the Rift Valley viewpoint to Lake Naivasha. Afternoon optional boat ride or cycling at Hell's Gate. Dinner and overnight at a Naivasha lakeside lodge.
- Day 2: After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Full-day game drive with packed lunch — look for flamingos, rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, and tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight at a Nakuru lodge.
- Day 3: Drive from Nakuru to the Masai Mara via the Mau escarpment, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive on the open plains. Dinner and overnight at a Mara tented camp.
- Day 4: Full day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives (or one extended all-day drive with a packed lunch). Excellent opportunity for the Big Five and, in season, river crossings. Dinner at camp.
- Day 5: Final sunrise game drive in the Mara, followed by breakfast and the return journey to Nairobi, arriving by late afternoon.

Best Time to Travel
This itinerary runs year-round. July–October coincides with the wildebeest migration in the Mara. January–February offers excellent game viewing with mild weather and lower crowds. The green months of April–May see fewer tourists and lush landscapes.
